Manual therapy
Physiotherapy can provide great results for a large variety of people of all ages and conditions, by incorporating a large range of treatment techniques such as massage and joint mobilisations or manipulations, that can help to offer pain relief and reduce stiffness, and exercises to focus on restoring movement and mobility, strength and flexibility and help to heal and strengthen your body while reducing the chance of future injuries or damage.
Through the understanding of complex normal movement patterns and soft tissue responses a Physiotherapist can assess and treat the underlying cause of both acute and chronic pain by using a tailored combination of hands on manual therapy techniques such as soft tissue mobilisation and massage, joint mobilisations and manipulations and the use of tape to provide immediate pain relief.
Manual therapy in combination with a personalised exercise programme to suit ability, limitations and activity levels can dramatically improve the rate of recovery and quality of life as well as facilitating a safe strong return to sport and active hobbies and the reducing the chance of further injuries in the future.
Conditions that are treated regularly include post-operative rehabilitation, chronic or acute stiff neck or joints, knee pain, back and musculoskeletal pain such as gluteal tendinopathy , achilles tendinopathy, bone stress injuries, tennis elbow, plantarfaciitis ( heel pain), discomfort from work, or new or existing sports related injuries, such as ankle sprains or rotator cuff tears
